Internship FAQ’s

How many interns will be accepted?
We limit the number interns each year to provide you with a well rounded and complete experience in the field.

What is included in the $7,000 cost?
The cost covers in-country transportation and living expenses, some free day activities, and an overnight safari at the end of the trip.

Are there any additional costs?
The cost does not include airfare or any expenses incurred in the US such as passports and immunizations.  In addition, the cost does not cover in-country medical expenses or extra spending money for snacks, souvenirs, or additional free time activities.

Can I fundraise for this trip?
Certainly.  Many people raise money through family, friends and church members, or by conducting fundraisers such as bake sales, car washes, etc.  There are many ways to raise the funds needed for the trip.  Upon your acceptance, we will send you an information packet that provides additional fundraising information.

Where can I get more information about passports, immunizations, packing tips, etc.?
Once you have been accepted, we will send an information packet that includes all this information and much more.  Our goal is that you feel fully prepared for the trip.

Where will we stay?
Interns will reside in the home of Ignite full-time missionaries in the town of Harrismith.

What will we do?
Our goal is to give interns a well-rounded missions experience.  This includes behind-the-scenes administrative work in each of our program areas, and assisting with various outreach events such as conferences, workshops, and youth assemblies.  Interns will also help host and serve on any short-term teams scheduled, as well as participate in other outreaches as opportunities become available.  We will provide opportunities to match primary job responsibilities to an intern’s interests and skills wherever possible.

Are there any age restrictions?
Interns must be 18 or older.

What are the qualifications for this internship?
We look for young adults who are born-again Christians with a heart to serve and share the love of Christ in practical ways.  Applicants should also have a shared passion for our mission and statement of faith.  While previous missions, ministry, or administrative experience is not required, it would be helpful.
